Intergenerational Communication: Roots Revival Project has significantly expanded its footprint in fostering bonds between youth and the elderly.
As part of its ongoing mission to revitalize family values and emotional resilience, the project has achieved the following milestones:
● Intergenerational Bonding Programs: Successfully conducted 12 programs across various schools and colleges to bridge the generational divide.
● Interactive Sessions: Organized 6 workshops and awareness sessions specifically designed to bring students and their grandparents together for shared dialogue.
● Observations: Conducted 2 "WEAAD" (World Elder Abuse Awareness Day) observations to sensitize students to the rights and dignity of senior citizens.
● Student Contributions: A total of 24 essays written by children have been published in the Senior Citizens Lounge, providing a platform for young voices to express their respect and affection for their elders.
● Pledge for Care: Students in these sessions often take formal pledges to dedicate more time to their grandparents, ensuring that cultural heritage and wisdom are preserved through active communication.
By creating these structured opportunities for interaction, the foundation is actively combating the "emotional emptiness" felt by many seniors in Kashmir while simultaneously providing youth with a strong emotional anchor through the guidance of their elders.
Moul Mouj Cancer Care Project, officially launched in March 2026, is a major initiative by the Moul Mouj Foundation (MMF) and its academic wing, CISA, to provide accessible and integrated cancer care for the elderly in Jammu & Kashmir.
The project recognizes that age is an independent risk factor for most cancers and aims to fill critical gaps in screening and treatment for senior citizens.
● Early Detection & Screening: Focuses on high-risk groups to identify cancer at treatable stages through simplified screening tools and structured formats.
● Affordable Treatment: Provides essential cancer medicines and chemotherapy on a strictly "no profit, no loss" basis to eliminate financial barriers for patients.
● Specialised Workshops: 2 workshops have already been successfully conducted, focusing on the specific screening and early detection protocols required for geriatric cancer patients.
● Staff Development: Intensive training of staff is currently underway, ensuring that doctors, paramedics, and frontline workers are equipped with the specialized skills to handle the physical and emotional complexities of cancer in senior citizens.
● Preventive Research: Studies regional disease patterns in the elderly to develop more effective preventive strategies specifically for the local population.
In collaboration with GK Communications Ltd., the Media Outreach Project of the Moul Mouj Foundation (MMF) is a strategic communication initiative designed to move beyond passive awareness toward actionable community engagement and advocacy for senior citizens.
The foundation utilizes several high-impact media channels to reach both the elderly and the younger generation:
● "Doctors Mic": A proactive healthcare series where Dr. Zubair Saleem discusses preventive geriatrics, chronic disease management, and healthy aging with other medical experts.
● Senior Citizens Lounge: A dedicated column and digital space hosted in collaboration with Greater Kashmir, featuring stories of resilience, medical advice, and creative works
● GK TV & Social Media: MMF maintains a strong presence on Instagram and YouTube to broadcast health tips, report on medical camps, and host live awareness sessions on post-Ramadan care and other seasonal health issues.
● DD Kashir Programs: Dr Zubair Saleem regularly features on DD Kashir, participating in dedicated health shows and talk segments to discuss geriatric care, elder rights, and the management of non-communicable diseases.
● Weekly Radio Capsules: To ensure information reaches every corner of the valley, the foundation airs a bi-weekly radio capsule (twice a week). These short, focused segments provide expert advice on managing age-related health issues, specifically targeting those in rural areas where radio remains a primary source of information.
● Disease-Specific Education: These broadcasts are used to simplify complex medical topics—such as the warning signs of heart failure or the importance of cancer screening—making them accessible to the general public in their local language
● Advocacy Against Neglect: The project uses media storytelling to highlight the "painful realities" of abandoned or neglected elders in Kashmir, urging the community to view senior care as a moral duty.
● Preventive Education: Transitioning the narrative from "sick-care" to proactive health, media content focuses on early screening for cancers and cardiovascular risks.
● Intergenerational Dialogue: Through its media presence, MMF reinforces the importance of family ties, using digital platforms to encourage youth to reconnect with their "custodians of wisdom."
